Joint Unmanned Systems Test, Experimentation and Research is the robotics research department at Virginia Tech. They came to me with a very interesting project that I happily accepted. The premise was to create a seal that could be used on their projects that also served as a semi-identity for multiple uses.
The requirements for the end result was to provide representations of unmanned vehicles for land, sea and air in their natural environments. The vehicles used in the final artwork could not be replications of the actual hardware being used due to legal restrictions. My job was to create fictional vehicles based off of current research, but were completely fictional. All of the vehicles and some of the environment were done in 3D then post production was done in photoshop.
